Happy Thursday!!
If you have read my blog in the past, you will probably know that I have been trying to lose weight for a while now. Unfortunately, I have not been successful. For that reason, I started going to a dietitian at my university, thankfully it is pretty cheap at my school!! This past Monday was my last meeting with her so I wanted to start blogging my weightless journey in order to have accountability. It would also be awesome if my journey could help someone pursue their journey as well.
So first my first post, I’ll give you some intro on where I am currently at and where I want to go. I will be posting about my journey every Monday. Enjoy!!
I am currently 22 years old, I’ll be turning 23 in August!! I am 5’2″ and currently I weigh 215 lbs. I have struggled with my weight since I was about 9 years old. At that time, it didn’t bother me much and I wasn’t too chubby but I was clearly gaining weight quickly. When I was 15 years old, I was diagnosed my PCOS. Some of you might know that PCOS makes it difficult to lose weight but it’s also not impossible.
When I started college I decided to get on WeightWatchers and I went from 160 lbs. to 135 lbs. I was super excited but I eventually gained it back and then some. My problem with weightWatchers was that it didn’t teach me how to eat healthy but just how to portion control. That is not to say that it is a bad program but I have found out that I need to learn to eat healthy foods instead of just control the portion of the unhealthy foods that I am used to eating.
There are two main reasons that I want to lose weight. The first is because I want to be healthy and not have to worry about the various diseases that come with being overweight. The second reason is because I want to look better. I don’t hate my body right now but I also know that I can look better and this is not the size I am meant to be. At times I don’t even feel like I am myself when I see my body.
I have a couple of goals that I want to achieve while on my weightless journey.
I want to meal plan successfully. I don’t mean that I want to prepare all my foods for the week on one day because I get grossed out by leftovers after the second day. I want to sit down once a week and plan all my meals on a journal and stick to those meals for the week.
I want to workout at least 5 times a week. Exercising is super important and it will help me tone my body. It will also help me have more energy.
Learn to love to eat healthy. This one is really important because I want to genuinely love healthy foods and not feel like it’s a drag to eat them.
My ultimate goal is for this to become my lifestyle because that will be the only to lose and maintain my weight. I hope you enjoyed my intro to my weightless journey.
Stayed tuned for Monday for more on my weightless journey. If you want me to post about anything in particular, let me know in the comments below.

Hi! I struggled with my weight too! But I decided not anymore. I started to eat only natural food. Vegetables, meat, nuts, natural fats, rice, sometimes potato, sweet potato, quinoa and those whole wheat carbohydrates and lots lots of water a day. Carbohydrates are the smallest part of your plate 😉 Training was 3 or 4 times a week and it helped with losing kg faster. Once a week I ate some junk food, and that helped my cravings. Fitness videos on youtube made my motivation bigger. You just want to become like one fitness freak 😀
I hope I helped! You can see my blog and comment! By! 😀

Well done for wanting to do this the healthy way!!! The key is moderation and never letting yourself go with out. I’ve been pretty healthy for a fair while now and I find the hardest thing is getting all nutrients I need. Especially when sometimes I just really need something unhealthy. I found some supplements that give me all I need and that was the difference, I just needed the extra energy to keep going with all the other aspects. So find something that works for you and stick to it. I look forward to seeing you grow and progress!!!

Pingback: Introduction To My Weightloss Journey – Bariatric News
Hey just read your post and thought I’d reach out! It’s so common for women to gain back the weight they lose on plans such as WW. I honestly wish that for me there was more out there with teaching us about eating….there’s so much misinformation out there and throughout my whole 20’s I struggled with yo-yo dieting and binge eating. I was never overweight but the yo-yo weight and lack of control with cravings led me to be really unhealthy. I would binge on ice-cream, Nutella, cakes you name it! I used to weigh 15kg more than I do now. But for me it’s not about the weight. It was about my relationship with food. I had a terrible mindset and lived in fear over every craving, every meal.
I think it’s great that you are seeing a nutritionist! But also consider this, people rarely lose weight based on educating themselves on nutrition only…there’s more to weight loss. Think about times you maybe have overeaten healthy foods! I know for me I used to binge on nuts because I thought that would stop me from eating unhealthy foods. Yes it was better than the Nutella but I still ate till I felt sick!
My point is there’s more to long term weight loss than what we eat and how much we exercise.
Think about young children who don’t ever think about food as something that will make them lose or gain weight? All of us have a natural ability to regulate our eating and fullness through our body signals of hunger and satiety.
Problem is with all the information out there about diets and what we should and shouldn’t be eating are we really enjoying food and feeling satisfied or are we just eating healthy food out of fear and feeling guilty when we eat bad foods.
The problem with labelling food forbidden or bad from a psychological perspective is it makes the food more alluring. Instead of the food just being food it becomes something we have to fight against. We argue to ourselves as to why we shouldn’t eat it and in the end most likely binge on it anyway. Is this any way to live? I hated that part of my life. My quality of life is so much better now trusting my hunger and my body and not fearing food. Food is not the enemy!!
Anyways sorry for my rambling. Just wanted to reach out as I hate seeing women struggle with eating plans and exercise without seeing the other part of maintaining weight loss for life!
Good luck!! xxxxx

Thanks for reaching out!! Right now I am trying to find a balance where I learn to eat food that is more nutritious while still eating the not so nutritious food that I enjoy. This balance to me would be great because I would enjoy eating but in moderation and I would not have feelings of regret after. I do agree with you that all the information on food intake can be super overwhelming and many articles/advice contradicts itself making it much harder for people. I am with you 100% that food is not the enemy!! I am slowly learning to trust my body and hunger and not just eat because I’m bored. Thanks again for reaching out!! 🙂

Good on you! Just be patient with yourself! It takes time to learn the balance and the more you trust your body the easier it gets. People want the quick fix but if I’m being completely honest it took me years to improve my relationship with food and truly be in touch with my hunger as opposed to emotional hunger. Then the weight was no longer an issue. At the end of the day quality of life and enjoying food to meet the needs of genuine hunger is far more important than weight loss! I just found it to be a positive side effect of overcoming my binges 😉

Good luck with your journey. My blog is WW related too; it really helps me to say the stuff that’s on my mind, and hear from like minded people. This is my third WW trip. I get to goal, and then lose the plot. It’s my fault, not the plan’s. I just need to learn to keep tracking, keep maintaining; it’s a lifestyle, not a diet. And it really does work. Meal planning and weighing everything would be my main tips. On a Sunday morning, I plan the week’s dinners. Then I go do the weekly shop. It helps me to stay on track. Good luck!
